Melissa McCarthy Premiere Stuns After Low-Carb Diet Weight Loss As ‘Spy’ Actress Starts Fashion Line [Video]
Melissa McCarthy stunned with her weight loss at the premiere of Spy. The actress made it clear that she’s proud of her slimmer body as she walked the red carpet, reported Star Pulse.
At 44, McCarthy succeeded in a 50-pound weight loss while also soaring in her career with a variety of new films. The movie premiere for Spy gives Melissa the opportunity to showcase her charm and comedic talents as a CIA analyst who takes the opportunity to leave her desk job for intense undercover work.
Although the premiere took place in Berlin this month, it doesn’t open in movie theaters until June 5.
As for that weight loss that Melissa flaunted, it’s due to a high protein, low-carb diet, as the Inquisitr reported.
“She’s been making small changes and seeing big results,” said a source. “It’s given her a real confidence boost.”
Why decide to diet now? The insider said that Melissa was concerned about her health and being a good role model for her children. Her new high-protein diet and weight loss doesn’t make her stressed, though, said the insider.
“Melissa knows that fans love her big and beautiful, and she’s not obsessed with dieting, She’s looking for a happy medium. Melissa realized she wasn’t being as healthy as she could be. She wants to set a good example for her kids and she wants to be around to become a grandmother too.”
In addition to her acting career, Melissa is determined to take on the fashion world and carve a niche for herself as force behind a new clothing line specifically for plus-sized women, reported More.
Called Melissa McCarthy Seven7, the clothing line includes input from her children. She and her husband Ben Falcone, who is a director and actor, have two little girls. Vivian is 8, and Georgette is just 5.
But McCarthy is turning fashion into a family affair by giving the girls the motivation to create cute doodles that Melissa can then transform into design patterns. And she’s letting her imagination go wild.
“I want to do a graffiti print, and I want the flowers to be dandelions,” said Melissa as an example.
But McCarthy also admits that she did not realize how much time it would take. Launching in August, the 80-piece line ranges from size four to 28. The attire will be available at retailers such as Macy’s, and she is working with Sunrise Brands.
“It’s pretty consuming,” admitted Melissa. “My problem is, I don’t hand things off very well.”
But she wants to take pride in the results.
“I just figure if it has my name on it and I want to make people feel good about wearing it, I can’t pass it off.”
