Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Sets New World Record! [Video]
Dwayne Johnson– aka “The Rock” — is a man of many talents. The wrestling champion-turned-actor has become a very bankable Hollywood star. He has a recurring role in the Fast and Furious franchise, from which the latest film, Fast and Furious 7, earned over $1.4 billion worldwide, according to MSN Entertainment. Never one to rest on his laurels, he has just broken a new world record at his San Andreas movie premiere in London on Thursday, May 22. He has taken the most self-portrait selfies — 105 — in three minutes, according to E! Online.
Of course, he had his adoring fans in the photos with him. The Guiness World Records organization released the following statement, according to E! Online!
“He attempted to win the Guinness World Records title of the most self-portrait photographs (selfies) taken in three minutes. Dwayne captured a total of 105 selfies on his cell phone in three minutes on the red carpet with excited movie fans, earning him the Guinness World Records title.”
How did he celebrate the occasion? Of course, by making a selfie video holding a Guinness World Record certificate surrounded by beaming fans, posted on Instagram, in which he said the following, according to E! Online.
“London, we did it! [And he wrote] We just set a NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for most self-portraits (selfies) taken in record time (yup, a selfie world record exists and your arm gets a helluva workout). WORLD PREMIERE of SAN ANDREAS and rewriting the record books all in one night. #MicDropBoom #NewSelfieKing #LONDON #SanAndreasWorldTour MAY 29th.”
Of course, the process was closely overseen by the by the Guinness World Records. Adjudicator for the Guiness Book of World Records Mark McKinley ensured that Johnson’s full face and neck were visible in each frame and that all of the images were in focus, according to the Daily News. And the Guinness Book posted the following video to YouTube.
Is there anything he can’t do? Probably not. He also recently surprised a fan by officiating at his wedding. Nick Mundy, a friend of Johnson’s, was surprised by The Rock. Mundy would not only be marrying his fiancée, but Johnson himself officiated the wedding and be the one to tie the knot for Mundy and his fiancée, Dilara Karabas. As Johnson revealed, he was ordained by the state of California for the occasion and would be the one in charge of the ceremony. While shamelessly plugging his new movie, Johnson officially declared Mundy and Karabas as husband and wife, before Mundy kissed the bride, according to an article in the Inquisitr.
And he also had the honor of imprinting his hands and feet into the concrete outside the historic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood recently. San Andreas is opening May 29 and is anticipated to be another blockbuster.
