Jana Duggar Subject Of Josh Duggar’s Incest Joke: ‘We Are From Arkansas, No?’ [Video]
The fallout from Josh Duggar’s sexual abuse scandal continues, with a clip from an episode of 19 Kids and Counting that shows Josh making a joke about dating his siblings. His reference to going on a double-date with his sister, Jana, and brother, John David may have been viewed as light-hearted humor back in 2008, but recent accusations that he molested five girls in 2005 make the video clip (below) a bit uncomfortable to watch.
In the video, Josh Duggar, then 20-years-old, talks about going to the movies with his then-fiancee Anna. In keeping with the Duggar family rules, Josh had to take along a chaperone on his date, and he initially picked his 15-year-old sister Jinger. However, because the theater required all movie-goers to be 18-plus to attend, Josh had to take his twin siblings, Jana and John David who were both 18 at the time.
Josh talks about going on a “double date” with his sister and brother, and then laughs about being from Arkansas.
“We chose Jana and John David – we thought why not, have a double date. We are from Arkansas, no?”
According to The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Josh Duggar was accused of sexually molesting five young girls in 2002 and 2003. The Arkansas police have reportedly destroyed the records in the case that detail the investigation about the then-juvenile Duggar, but the Gazette was able to access the reports before they were disposed of.
“Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar told police they learned of a person improperly touching people at their home in 2002 and 2003, according to that Springdale Police Department report. Victims also told police they had been improperly touched, sometimes while they slept. The instances happened over a period of several months.”
After the allegations surfaced, Josh’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar posted an apology for their son’s actions on Facebook, stating that Josh made “some very bad mistakes” and the situation brought the family “closer to God.”
“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before. Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God.”
TLC pulled 19 Kids and Counting from their line-up last week, but it is not known if the latest in a long line of Duggar scandals will result in the show being permanently pulled from the network.
