Eva Mendes Shares Her First Selfie! Did Her Love Ryan Gosling Encourage Her To Share Her Instagram Post?

It may have taken Eva Mendes a long time to post her first ever selfie, but at least she is breaking her silence for a great cause, according to E! News. The Lost River actress recently shared a selfie on Instagram to help raise funds for toddler Andrew Wilson Wratten and his ongoing fight with cancer. Was the Hitch star encouraged to join the social media site by her love, Ryan Gosling?

That remains to be seen. This super private couple barely even makes public appearances together. But while the Notebook actor was promoting his latest film, he did talk about the shifting priorities in his life. We can only assume he means Mendes and their baby girl, Esmeralda.

“With age, your perspectives shift. I shudder when I think about some of the views I held at 20,” Ryan Gosling told Neon (via Belfast Telegraph). “I don’t see any problem with getting older, quite the opposite! Aging helps you to become humble and that’s a great feeling.”

As for Mendes, it seems the real reason she joined is to raise awareness for a cause that is very close to her heart.

“This is my first selfie and it’s for an amazing cause!” Mendes wrote in the post. The selfie shows Mendes wearing a shirt that says “Hope and prayers for Andrew Wilson.”

Mendes is no stranger to the difficulty of fighting such a terrible disease. Her brother, Carlos, is also in the midst of a battling cancer. Mendes, who is now a mother to her very own 9-month-old daughter, Esmeralda Amada, recently attended the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event in support of her brother.

“Tonight I’m here with my family – my brother Carlos who I love so much – he had treatment today, and we weren’t sure if he was going to be feeling up to it,” Mendes said during a speech for the event. “So I’m so happy he made it, and I love you.”

Along with her first ever selfie, Eva Mendes went on to ask people to donate money in order to raise funds for Wratten and his family. She even promised to give away the T-shirt she was wearing in the photo to one lucky donator.

“Thank you all so much for helping support Andrew Wilson and his family. Please, please donate – any bit helps!” she wrote. “I’m going to sign this tshirt and give it away to one person who makes a donation within the next 48 hours. Click the link in my bio to donate. Together let’s help this family get their son the proper treatment that he needs.”

In addition to her selfie, Mendes went on to post a really cute picture of Wratten with the caption, “This little guy, Andrew Wilson Wratten, is full of smiles, a ball of energy and VERY special to me.”

She went even further by explaining how the little guy has had a rough year in his fight with cancer.

“He has been undergoing treatment for neuroblastoma cancer. His family has spent the last year going through every parent’s worst nightmare as they watch their little boy endure grueling treatment and they need our help.”

A few hours into the donation run, Eva Mendes posted a video collage of Wratten and thanked everyone for their support.
