Kaley Cuoco Plans To Grow Out Her Hair
When Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting chopped off her long locks last year, she jokingly called it the “haircut heard around the planet.” Big Bang fans attached to her character’s look did not take kindly to the change.
Cuoco-Sweeting actually cut her hair twice last year. First she took off a few inches and debuted a tousled bob. The ultra-short pixie cut soon followed.
This week, Kaley revealed to People where her hair fashion is going in the future.
“I think my original cut to my chin was my favorite. I’ll [grow it and] keep it there!”
Her original cut still kept some length and buoyancy, as is evident in a picture uploaded to Instagram at the time by her stylist Christine Symonds.
The pixie cut came soon afterwards. In her Instagram caption of the photo showing off the new look, she joked that Symonds had brought out her “inner Peter Pan.”
In a Women’s Health interview last year, Kaley explained she just needed a dramatic change.
“I haven’t had my hair cut in over 20 years. I was ready for a change — I felt like I needed to reinvent myself and that cut was awesome.
“And I kept seeing people cutting their hair shorter and shorter, and I thought, it’s only a few more inches, and I talked to my hair dresser and we cut it. I loved it, I didn’t want to stop. I am surprised I did not shave my head.”
In the months since, Kaley has frequently worn her hair off her face, moussed-up or slicked-back, although she has sometimes taken advantage of the remaining length for a looser look.
The short haircut has also given Kaley the chance to experiment with her blonde hue. She told People this week that her recent pink dye job was a hit with her husband, tennis player Ryan Sweeting. Since the color faded quickly she’s been tempted to try different shades.
“[Ryan is] really cute about that. He’s one of those people who is like, ‘You’re beautiful every which way.’ But he loved the pink. Every time he looked at me, he was like, ‘Oh, it’s like I got a new wifey in town!'”
The Big Bang Theory is on hiatus until the fall, when fans will see how the show’s cliffhangers, including one for Kaley’s character Penny and her boyfriend Leonard, will pan out.
