Randy Moss Attends Graduation Of Leukemia-Surviving Fan

Retired NFL star Randy Moss proved recently that he is a man of his word, especially when it comes to keeping promises made to his fans.

Multiple reports confirm that the 38-year-old former wide receiver made a promise to longtime fan Kassi Spier that he would attend her high school graduation.

Randy Moss apparently did not settle for sitting down in the audience to watch Kassi Spier walk across the stage along with her 71 fellow graduates. The Pelican Rapids Press reported that Moss actually handed the diploma to Kassi himself.

What made the moment even more special was what Kassi reportedly struggled with over the years just to be able to make it to her own graduation.

According to the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, Kassi Spier survived a battle with leukemia that started at a young age. In 2013, the Pelican Rapids High School student was also diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Randy Moss first met Kassi Spier during an autograph session for fans in 1998, his rookie year with the Minnesota Vikings.

However, their longtime friendship reportedly went much farther than that first autograph session, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“A 2003 story by the Associated Press…detailed his friendship with Spier. She would follow him to lunch during training camp that year with Moss holding her hand… In 2000 Moss visited Spier, then 4 years old, at the Mayo Clinic after her leukemia diagnosis and cried when he had to leave.”

Quite a few fans and critics have shared their thoughts and reactions to the news about Randy Moss’ act of kindness on Twitter.

Randy Moss was selected with the 21st pick in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Before retiring from the NFL for the second time in 2013, Moss was able to maintain a successful career filled with broken records, awards, and accolades.

Perhaps what Randy Moss was able to do for his longtime fan, though, will go down in history as one of his biggest accomplishments.
