Michelle Duggar Quote About Gays As ‘Child Predators’ Revisited, Exposes Christian Hypocrisy
It’s very interesting watching the mental gymnastics occurring as supposedly God-fearing Christians like Michelle Duggar go out of their way to defend the act of child molestation. To be gay is in the eyes of these same people an irredeemable sin, and yet to sexually violate a child is instantly forgivable and everyone is overreacting. The selective nature of forgiveness and holiness as applied by the Duggars and their supporters can be summarized in the statements by Michelle Duggar about transgender persons.
Michelle used her considerable clout as a conservative reality TV star darling to help block an ordinance in Fayetteville, Arkansas, which would permit those transwomen to use women’s locker rooms and bathrooms. The argument that Duggar made is that the law would expose women and girls to dangerous sexual predators.
“I don’t believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls.
“I doubt that Fayetteville parents would stand for a law that would endanger their daughters or allow them to be traumatized by a man joining them in their private space.”
In retrospect, the audacity to promote such fear and hate in the face of the recent Josh Duggar scandal is astounding. Duggar confessed to sexually molesting at least five girls (a group rumored to include multiple sisters) back in 2002; Michelle Duggar, who would have been fully knowledgeable of her own son’s behaviors, participated in robocalls in 2014.

This woman used fear and ignorance of LGBT individuals to help shoot down an anti-discrimination law that had nothing to do with any reasonable threat to women and girls. However, Michelle Duggar is the same woman who did nothing to separate the women and girls in her own household from someone she knew to be a child molester. She stood by while husband Jim Bob and son Josh scurried to report his activity to a law enforcement official who happened to be a child porn collector.
How can any sane person see this deceitful behavior and tell themselves that the Duggar family is under fire because they’re Christians? How can any so-called Christian tell themselves that it’s okay to defend and excuse child molestation but then turn around and use fear of child molestation to discriminate against LGBT Americans? So many Christians tell themselves that the most terrifying thing about a changing America is the gay rights movement. How is that nearly as terrifying as a group of people who see nothing wrong with standing up for hypocrisy and child rape so long as the guilty parties are “respectable” white conservative Americans?

If ultra-conservative hypocrites are wondering why an increasing percentage of the younger generation is abandoning Christianity in droves, it may be a good idea to carefully examine two things: The antics of people like Michelle Duggar… and the nearest mirror.
