Tim Tebow: I’m So Excited To Be A Jet
Tim Tebow has officially arrived in New York City. The former Bronco held his first press conference as a member of the New York Jets where he answered questions about his departure from Denver and his media-hyped rivalry with Mark Sanchez.
Tebow started the conference by saying that he had no hard feelings against John Elway, the Denver Broncos, or Peyton Manning.
“It was a special season last year, that I was able to be part of, just a little bit of, with a lot of great teammates, some great coaches… They’ve got one of the best quarterbacks to ever play this game in Peyton Manning, and he’s always been extremely classy and supportive of me. I wish him nothing but the best. There is no ill will to the Broncos or the coaching staff or Peyton Manning or anybody.”
OK, one media crisis averted. What about trying to steal Sanchez’ starting quarterback job?
“Me and Mark have a great relationship. We’ve been friends the past three years and have already texted back and forth. We are going to have a great working relationship and I think we’ll have a lot of fun together…. Hopefully, by me being here, we can be a little bit better… I think I can add something, and that’s my hope and prayer.”
Tebow may not harbor any ill will against the Broncos or his potential new neighbor Mark Sanchez, but the New York Jets locker room is reportedly upset about Tebow’s signing. But the issue isn’t with Tebow himself or where he’ll fit into the lineup. Some of the Jets feel like Tebow is a media ploy and will draw attention away from the team, even as a backup quarterback.
The Jets did hold a press conference to introduced their second string QB today so it’s hard to argue that a media circus won’t surround Tebow all season.
