‘Fear The Walking Dead’: First On Set Pictures And More News On A Premiere Date
With summer nearly officially here, fans of The Walking Dead are starting to wonder if AMC really did mean it when they said their new companion show, Fear The Walking Dead would premiere this summer. Considering filming is still underway and only the pilot confirmed as finished, there is certainly some sway to the idea Fear The Walking Dead may not hit our screens as quickly as we would like.
However, The Wall Street Journal has just announced Fear The Walking Dead will have a late summer start now. Which, one would assume, means August. Perhaps? Many fans were tipping for a mid June start, and this makes a lot of sense as it falls in the middle of the current programming slots for The Walking Dead. Then, if Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead is the full 16 episodes split into two mini seasons like The Walking Dead is currently, there would be an even split of zombie programming throughout the year on AMC.
But, even if the scheduled start date for Fear The Walking Dead is pushed back a little, fans can be appeased with seven new on set photos. While the photos don’t give much away, it is still enough to have Walking Dead fans studying them to come up with their own theories as to what Fear The Walking Dead will be about.
According to a statement recently released by AMC, Fear The Walking Dead will start in a more terrifying place as chaos descends on Los Angeles.
“Fear The Walking Dead takes us back to the earlier, more dangerous, more terrifying days of The Walking Dead. A time when danger was lurking around every corner and the thing mostly likely to get you killed was your own ignorance of the rapidly changing world around you. The stakes are going to be higher and the ride more intense. We’re going to show people all the insanity of civilization crumbling that Rick Grimes slept through. Buckle up.”
Fear The Walking Dead showrunner, Dave Erickson, also had this to add about whether or not the this new show will catch up with the original Walking Dead series.
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Fear will catch up with the events of The Walking Dead’s first episode, Days Gone Bye. I wouldn’t say that we end the season at the exact same point where Rick wakes up, but it’ll loosely be in that time frame. Things will have gone very bad by the end of Season 1.”
