Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Surprises Friend, Officiates His Wedding [Video]
When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is not busy laying the smackdown in the professional wrestling ring or blowing up box offices as an actor on the big screen, the former 10-time world champion is occupied with marrying his closest friends.
Johnson, 43, was set to meet with good friend Nick Mundy of the Screen Junkies to do an interview to promote his upcoming movie, San Andreas, which will hit theaters on May 29. However, to swerve Mundy and throw him off, he was told that the original plans have changed and that Johnson would no longer be meeting with him.
Crazed with the idea of wanting to come up with a better bit to do, Mundy walked crazily on the top of the building’s roof to try and come up with a better idea. However, the concept was that anything he came up with would be denied and Johnson would not be coming.
That is when Johnson emerged beyond a wooden door to surprise his good friend and inform him of what the rest of the day held in store for him.
What Mundy came out to witness was that his family and friends had all gathered in one setting at the same time to witness him marry his fiancé. However, that was just the tip of the iceberg as the biggest surprise of the day was yet to be revealed.
Mundy would not only be marrying his fiance, but Johnson himself would officiate the wedding and be the one to tie the knot for Mundy and his fiancé, Dilara Karabas. As Johnson revealed, he was ordained by the state of California for the occasion and would be the one in charge of the ceremony.
While shamelessly plugging his new movie, Johnson officially declared Mundy and Karabas as husband and wife, before Mundy kissed the bride.
This moment may not have happened on the grand scale of Wrestlemania 31, where Johnson stood side-by-side with UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, looking across the ring at Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in front of over 70,000 people, the emotion that came over Mundy’s face meant that the small gathering there to see it meant more than any stadium crowd.
Much like Johnson cemented himself in a ceremony at Hollywood’s Chinese Theater, also known as the TCL Chinese Theater, by putting his handprints in wet cement, he left a huge mark on Mundy and Karabas wedding ceremony by cementing their union as married couple.
