Kurt Sutter’s ‘The Bastard Executioner’ Has Wrapped, Everything We Know About The ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Creator’s Latest Project For FX
Kurt Sutter’s newest series, The Bastard Executioner, has officially finished filming its pilot episode. The Sons of Anarchy creator recently posted a few images from the production on Instagram. Filming of the new FX drama took place over the span of a couple of months in Wales.”We have wrapped,” Sutter noted in one of the images.
“Thank you to my extraordinary production team and my brilliant cast. I measure my creative experiences by surprises. If the good outweigh the bad, I’m satisfied. But if the good make you forget the bad. I’m fulfilled.”
The new series centers on a warrior knight under the charge of King Edward II in the 14th century. The knight vows to never pick up his sword again after experiencing the ravages of war. However, he is forced to once again return to his life of violence and become the executioner.
In addition to the picture about the pilot being finished, Sutter also posted a picture of Lee Jones as the main protagonist. The picture depicts Jones standing with a castle in the foreground. The image was captioned with “Living the nightmare. #theleejones #TBX #pilot.”
Sutter, who has been using his social media accounts as a way to further promote his new series, also uploaded a photo of a set of bloody swords. Sutter captioned the bloody sword image with “I think you already know this… There Will Be Blood.”
In addition to Jones as the main character, Sutter’s wife, Katey Sagal is set to make an appearance in The Bastard Executioner, Sagal, who played Gemma Teller on Sons of Anarchy, is playing the role of Annora of the Alders in the new series. Sutter recently posted an image of Sagal as Annora along with one of his daughters, Sarah White, who will be playing Isabel.
Sutter, who is known for his creation of Sons of Anarchy as well as his role in the biker drama as Otto Delaney, will also be playing a character in his new drama. Sutter is set to appear as the Dark Mute in the violent medieval series. His character will serve as a sort of guide to Annora of the Alders and will rarely show his face or speak.
An official trailer for the pilot episode has yet to be released, but one should be on the way soon. The Bastard Executioner is expected to be released on FX sometime this summer.
