Tim Tebow Gunning For Mark Sanchez’s Job
FLORHAM PARK, New Jersey -The New York Jets reportedly signed Tim Tebow to be a situational quarterback for Tony Sparano’s Wildcat offense. This is further evidenced by the fact that the Jets just made Sanchez one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the game.
Supposedly, That is not how Tim Tebow sees it. Tebow is supposedly gunning for Sanchez’s starter job and he intends to get it.
The New York Daily News is citing sources close to Tebow that say the reason he preferred being traded to the New York Jets as opposed to the Jacksonville Jaguars is there is much more of a chance of taking the starter’s job away.
Tebow has every right to want to win. Sanchez has never felt a threat to his job being backed up by 41 year old Mark Brunell. Now that he has Tebow there he might feel a challenge at any time.
Sanchez committed 26 turnovers in his 16 starts last season while Tebow had just 13 in his 13 starts.
With the aquisition of Tebow Drew Stanton, the New York Jets former backup quarterback, asked to immediately be traded. No problem was the response and he was dealt to the Indianapolis Colts today. Now Tebow has nothing standing in his way of a direct challenge to Sanchez.
There are still many obstacles. If Sanchez gets better control of the ball or reduces his interceptions we may be dealing with a mute point. The thing Jets fans must be worried about is that last year the Jets had a divided locker room that caused them to fall apart in the stretch.
Does a polarizing person like Tim Tebow help the situation or harm it?
