Amber Portwood Reacts To Matthew Baier’s Violence While Drinking
Amber Portwood and her fiance, Matthew Baier, have both suffered from past substance abuse, so the fact that they are now drinking has become a worry for fans — especially after last night’s episode of MTV’s Teen Mom OG.
In a scene from last night’s show, via a May 18 report by MTV News, a producer was seen meeting with Amber Portwood following a violent outburst which resulted in a drunk Baier punching his hand through a wall. Although they were okay at the time, the previous night was a different story, and during a Teen Mom OG: Featured Moment, Portwood reflected on her fiancé’s behavior.
“When Matt punched the wall, it didn’t necessarily connect with how me and Gary [were]. You know, I seen a side of Matt that I didn’t like, but he doesn’t drink, and I’ve never really seen him drink — so when he got drunk, he gets angry. He becomes that drunk that’s like, ‘You don’t love me anymore.’ Like that’s all I was freaking hearing for like five hours. And I was like, ‘What the f**k are you talking about right now?'”
Amber Portwood struggled with an addiction to prescription pills for years prior to her June 2012 entry into a 5-year prison term in Indiana. After beginning her sentence, the reality star and mother of 6-year-old Leah told Dr. Drew she felt she needed to be in prison to kick her drug habit as she had failed to do so many times on the street.
As for her and Baier’s drunken evening, it certainly came as a red flag to Amber Portwood, especially after being in a volatile relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Gary Shirley, for many years.
“I don’t want to be in that relationship again, and I kind of thought to myself when it happened, ‘If this is how it’s going to be, I refuse to be in a relationship like this again.'”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Amber Portwood has been drinking lately, as well. Despite her known issues with drug abuse, the Teen Mom OG star recently celebrated her birthday with Baier and shared a photo of two glasses of wine, confirming both she and Baier were still drinking.
