‘Suicide Squad’ Exclusive: Pictures Of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn [Gallery]
Warning: This article contains possible spoilers for Suicide Squad.
One of the most anticipated and highly secretive film projects currently in the works is Suicide Squad, with many fans eager to see how Margot Robbie will be transformed into the legendary Dr. Harleen Quinzel (AKA Harley Quinn). Until now, pictures of Ms. Robbie in costume have been hard to come by, but new Suicide Squad photos have been leaked, showing Margot in full costume on set.
The photos were taken during the evening filming of a fight scene between Quinn (Margot Robbie) and The Joker (Jared Leto), shot on location underneath an Ontario overpass. The scene seems to take place before Margot’s Suicide Squad character transforms from Dr. Harleen Quinzel into Harley Quinn.
The scene revolves around the abusive relationship between the two Suicide Squad characters and exemplifies the love-hate dynamic common in stories about The Joker and Harley Quinn. The shot begins with Robbie’s character confronting Jared’s Joker with a gun, but Joker soon turns the table and smacks Harleen Quinzel with the strike sending Margot’s character falling to the ground. The Joker soon leaves Robbie’s Suicide Squad character stranded under the overpass, but not before stealing a passionate kiss from her.
The following photo gallery will give Suicide Squad fans a glimpse at the contrast between Margot Robbie as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, opposed to her Harley Quinn alter ego. Ms. Robbie is dressed in a compartively conservative denim outfit as Dr. Quinzel, compared to the drastic changes in make-up, hair color, and an outfit that consists of a tattered sports jersey and torn fishnet stockings.
The emotions apparent in the scene, revealed in the photos, seems to imply that both Jared Leto and Margot Robbie have keenly captured the complex emotions present in the relationship between The Joker and Harley Quinn. Even in this brief scene, an incredibly vast range of emotions can be seen in Ms. Robbie’s face. There’s anger and rage that transforms into lust and admiration, before she finally succumbs to melancholy and defeat.
The plot of Suicide Squad follows a group of supervillains recruited by a clandestine government agency to engage in black ops missions in exchange for their release from prison.
In addition to Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker, Suicide Squad will also star Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Will Smith as Deadshot, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Suicide Squad is scheduled for an August 2016 release.
