Redmond O’Neal: Farrah Fawcett’s Son Wanted

Farrah Fawcett’s son Redmond O’Neal is wanted by police for violating his probation.

The son of the late actress and actor Ryan O’Neal, was jailed for heroin and weapon possession in 2011 and released in 2012, according to the Daily Mail.

“He’s an addict,” Redmond’s half-sister Tatum O’Neal said in 2011. “Addicts keep using until they want to stop. We’re praying for him every day.”

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith L. Schwartz revoked O’Neal’s probation in April, and also issued a no bail bench warrant for his arrest after his probation officer notified him of the violation, People Magazine reports.

On June 2, 2014, Judge Schwartz determined Redmond had been using drugs, was not obeying the laws, and had failed to attend his court appointed doctors appointments. After admitting his guilt, O’Neal was ordered back to rehab, and was only allowed to visit with his father with the staff present. He was required to take all of his medications as prescribed, submit to random drug tests, and wear a GPS device while he was in treatment.

After a progress report in October 2014, the judge decided the GPS device was no longer needed for his probation.

The 30-year-old has suffered from heroin addiction and run-ins with the law for most of his adult life. He was temporarily released from jail in 2009 to visit his mother Farrah Fawcett while she was in hospital and he was also permitted to attend her funeral after she died of cancer at the age of 62.

“He never recovered from the loss of his mother,” Redmond’s father told People Magazine following his 2011 arrest.

While O’Neal’s behavior has put a strain on his and Ryan’s relationship, they seemed to have been growing closer in the past several years. Redmond even accompanied him on the red carpet for the 3rd Annual American Humane Association Hero Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in 2013.

Redmond’s lawyer Richard Pintal has not issued a comment on the current situation.
