Troy Street Magic , the newest magic-based television series, will make its debut tonight on SYFY . The unscripted TV series will feature popular magician Troy Von Scheibner, a 26-year-old black man from South London known as Von Majik. His bio indicates that he is half Jamaican, and has German and Jewish roots. Studying magic since he was a child, Troy Von Scheibner has perfected his craft and has been impressing stunned onlookers for years. The awe-inspiring magician takes his talent seriously, and most likely uses a bit of psychology to know how to please his audience. Here’s one big tip: Troy Von Scheibner believes it is important to look clean and smell clean when you get very close to a person while performing magic tricks, or they could become turned off rather quickly.
Though Scheibner relishes in his popularity, he also admits that sometimes the attention can be a little too much, and that sometimes he just desires to be a regular person. Here is what he stated in an interview with the Telegraph .
“Everyone is compelled to ask to see a trick as soon as you say ‘I’m a magician’. Then, once you show one person a trick, it’s scary how it spreads like a virus — then everyone knows you’re a magician and you have to do tricks all night. Obviously getting into magic you want to show people tricks, but sometimes you just want to chill.”
Troy Street Magic is the U.S. version of the same series that aired on British TV channel E4 . It was announced earlier this year by Variety that SYFY had acquired the show. Season 1 aired for the first time in 2014, and wrapped up in March of this year.
The second season promises to be just as exciting and intriguing as season one — if not more. Some believe that Scheibner’s magic tricks are fake, and that actors and editing are what makes his magic tricks seem legit. Others, who have witnessed his magic in person, say emphatically that what the man does is 100 percent real. Whether Troy Von Scheibner has special powers or if it is all just a trick of the eye, he is quite impressive and has continued to blow his audiences away — often leaving their mouths agape.
Here is the tease for tonight’s Troy Street Magic show. Be sure to tune in and watch Troy work his magic tonight on SYFY at 10 p.m. central.
“Students are stunned by a spooky trick involving Troy’s telepathic powers and their smart phones.”
