Taylor Swift Vs. Katy Perry: Is Their ‘Bad Blood’ Really About John Mayer?
It’s no secret that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are in a very public feud. Some reports are saying that Taylor may diss her fellow enemy in the “Bad Blood” music video. The singer’s new single has been rumored to be about Katy Perry.
Swift, 25, revealed to Rolling Stone magazine last year that “Bad Blood” was about a falling out with another pop singer. Though Swift didn’t name names, she did hint that it was another singer who was touring around the same as her. Fans did their thorough investigation and found that Perry had her California Dreams Tour the same time as Swift had her Red tour.
In her interview, she told the magazine that the unnamed singer practically sabotaged her tour by stealing her backup dancers. She even talked to a friend about her enemy’s alleged sabotage, as previously reported via Us Weekly.
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
Fans are wondering if “Bad Blood” is more about Perry’s on-again, off-again relationship with John Mayer rather than a silly world tour. If you listen to the lyrics, you can see that the words cut deep. Swift appears to be very hurt by what Perry did to her. Perry and Mayer have been dating on-and-off since 2012, while Swift and Mayer previously dated around 2010 or 2011.
The pop singers used to be good friends. Taylor and Katy were often photographed at various music awards shows. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Taylor’s bitter over the fact that Katy decided to date her infamous ex-boyfriend, who she also wrote “Dear John” about.
It looks like Perry is getting ready to watch Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video – and she’s not watching it alone. An alleged source told Hollywood Life how the “Dark Horse” singer plans is getting ready for the debut.
“Both Katy and John are ready to watch it and they are ready to be unimpressed. They are not scared of any diss that might take place, but Katy is secure in the fact that if a major diss happens, she will gladly have a rebuttal in either a future video, song or performance.”
It makes sense since Taylor Swift watched Katy Perry’s halftime performance at the 2015 Super Bowl. Several rumors swirled that Perry was going to take a dig at Swift during her performance. It turned out that the rumors didn’t live up to the hype. Although Perry’s performance was well-received, she didn’t follow up to rumors by dissing Swift.
Katy Perry and John Mayer have been rumored to be dating again. As previously reported via KPopStarz, the confused couple were spotted leaving at Met Gala party last Monday night. An onlooker also said that they were “leaning in for many passionate kisses.”
The pop divas will also be competing for Top Artist at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on May 17. It’ll be interesting to see Katy’s reaction to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video.
