WWE News: Samoa Joe Believed To Have Signed Multi-Year Deal With WWE, Will Debut Next Week
WWE has finally signed potentially the hottest free agent on the market in former TNA star Samoa Joe. It has been rumored since he left TNA that WWE would be trying to bring him in. Joe secretly met with WWE Executive Triple H at a recent batch of WWE NXT tapings where they were said to have talked figures. It was uncertain if they agreed to terms then or not. It was speculated then that Samoa Joe simply had to pass medical tests and he would be brought in.
According to SEScoops, it looks like he has done just that. Samoa Joe has signed a two-year deal that will see him first debut with WWE NXT. It was rumored that we could see him debut at WWE NXT: Unstoppable, and that looks to be where WWE is wanting it to happen. The NXT special airs live next week, so it makes total sense to bring Joe to this show first rather than have him debut on a taped show in June like previously reported.
It said that he would most likely debut at the end of the show. This very well could be the time that WWE writes out Sami Zayn for a while, since he is said to be hurt. Zayn is still going through with the match with Kevin Owens, seeing as WWE needs him to and he really wants to do it. However, despite how he may look in the ring, he is hurt and won’t be around full time for a bit. Zayn will most likely get a shot to help him through the match, which is something many athletes do to make it through games while hurt with an injury that is workable.
Due to Zayn going down, WWE needs to start a new rivalry. While it is believed that Kevin Owens would feud with whoever wins the number one contender match at Unstoppable, can we really risk not seeing Kevin Owens vs. Samoa Joe at some point?
Much like Kevin Owens, Joe was asked to slim down a bit when coming in. As you can see from the image above, he has done just that and looks to be in incredible shape. So we could see a lighter and more agile Samoa Joe. This could be really cool to see. Joe is already an agile worker for his size, so having him lighter only increases his ring ability. Joe is also 36-years of age, so it is good for him to get into great shape before taking on a WWE schedule of any kind.
Now that Samoa Joe is just about guaranteed to appear at WWE NXT: Unstoppable, we could see an increase in WWE Network numbers just to see him. Fans have been dying to see him perform in WWE for years, so now that is here, it could be fun to see. Unstoppable will air on the WWE Network on May 20, which is next Wednesday at 8/7c. If the show wasn’t already going to be exciting, now it’s a can’t miss.
