Trayvon Martin’s Parents Speak At Million Hoodie March [Video]

Last night, hundreds of people gathered in Manhattan for a “Million Hoodie March” to protest the unjust, but legally protected, killing of Trayvon Martin. Martin’s parents joined the marchers and asked them to keep fighting for justice.

Trayvon’s father, Tracy Martin, said:

“We will not stop until we get justice for Trayvon. Trayvon Martin was not a bad person. My son did not deserve to die. There’s nothing that we can say that can bring him back but I’m going to make sure that justice is served so that no parents have to go through this again.”

The boy’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, said:

“All of you really make a difference. You don’t understand how much you mean to us. This is the support we need. I want you guys to stand up for justice and stand up for what’s right. This is not a black and white thing. This is a right and wrong thing.”

Trayvon Martin was killed earlier this month by George Zimmerman while he was walking through a community in Florida. Zimmerman, who was on neighborhood watch, shot and killed the unarmed teenager. Zimmerman said that he felt attacked and shot Trayvon in self-defense. Zimmerman’s story is a little flimsy, however, since Skittles aren’t typically considered a weapon.
