Nina Dobrev Shares Photos From Last Days On ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Set, Gets ‘Caked’ With Ian Somerhalder
Nina Dobrev and her days on The Vampire Diaries as Elena Gilbert might be officially over, but at least she enjoyed a proper and fun sendoff. With that in mind, the actress shared some enjoyable photos on Instagram of her final day on set, which appeared to be a sweet one.
The pictures include a few of her and fellow co-star — and former boyfriend — Ian Somerhalder sharing a happy goodbye, perhaps proving the Dobrev is okay with the fact that Somerhalder recently married Nikki Reed and continues to post pictures looking deliriously happy.
One particular photo that Dobrev posted shows the two covered in celebratory cake with the caption, “But I didn’t go out without putting up a fight….If I was gonna go down, I wasnt going to go down alone. @iansomerhalder.”
While many fans are still sad to see Elena go, at least the show’s writers decided to leave the door open for her character to return instead of just killing her off. The recently aired Season 6 finale revealed that Bonnie and Elena were linked together and Elena will stay sleeping until Bonnie passes away. In her final moments on screen, Dobrev’s character appropriately got a last goodbye with Damon before being securely locked up while she sleeps.
In addition to the photos she posted on Instagram, Nina Dobrev also shared a couple videos of her getting pranked on her final day on set. The videos show the actress getting completely covered with cake in a surprise move by her fellow cast members.
Dobrev captioned the Instagram videos by saying, “6 years of pranks… It was bound to bite me (No pun intended) in the a** eventually. #caked #lastday #finalscene #TVDTBT,” and “Because I deserved it. #Caked.”
It is really great to see Dobrev get such a good send off by both the show and her co-stars.
In regards to her final days of shooting, Dobrev also noted on Instagram, “I just got “Carrie-d”. And I couldn’t have asked for a better way to go… #TVDFamily #TVDTBT #caked@julieplec.”
Dobrev, who announced that she would be leaving the show back in April, has been with the vampire series since its beginnings. Her character’s love triangle with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Somerhalder) has been one of the main storylines through the show’s first six seasons.
Along with the cake photos and videos, the Vampire Diaries star also posted a photo with executive producer Julie Plec. Plec wrote the final episode in Season 6 which saw the end of the road for Nina Dobrev.
