Zedd Makes Sweet Music For Selena Gomez? Believes Tabloid Gossip Is Too Much Of A ‘Distraction’
Selena Gomez and Zedd may be over, but the DJ is still making music about the singer. The German DJ and producer released a new single called “Beautiful Now,” which is claimed to be about his short-lived relationship with Selena Gomez.
Selena Gomez, 22, and Zedd, 25, were rumored to be dating for a few months. The two even collaborated in the studio to release their single, “I Want You To Know.” Zedd is even working with Gomez on her upcoming album.
It looks like the former Disney star gave Zedd some inspiration for his own new music. His new single, “Beautiful Now,” featuring Jon Bellion is about a relationship that seemed beautiful at the time, as previously reported by Hollywood Life.
Jon sings the sweet lyrics below. As you can see, the lyrics are very personal and revealing.
“Stranded together / Our worlds have collided / This won’t be forever / So why try to fight it? / We’re beautiful now / We’re beautiful now.”
It sounds like Selena Gomez and Zedd weren’t meant to be. After his high-profile relationship with the singer, the producer told Billboard that he didn’t like the constant tabloid rumors about his personal life. Instead, Zedd wants to focus on making music and releasing new album, True Colors.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been in the press in my life for anything but my music, and I’ve appreciated that a lot. And I’ve never had any scandals and I’ve never done anything bad, and everyone only talked about my music. I liked that — that’s how I want it to be.
And then, out of nowhere, suddenly people started talking about things that had nothing to do with my music. I was like, ‘Wait — we’ve got a song. Why don’t you talk about that song?’ It took me a really long time to do this.”
After so much speculation about his relationship with Gomez, he said that he no longer wants to discuss his personal life. It sounds like all of the news surrounding their relationship was too much of a “distraction” for Zedd and his work. It could’ve been the reason for Gomez and Zedd’s sudden split.
“It is a distraction, that’s exactly what it is and I wasn’t used to it either — like, my dad would text me something like, ‘Hey, have you seen this?’ At that point [the news] went over four stations and four languages and turned into something completely different. I’m like, ‘Dad, if I tell you something, that’s what it is, and just don’t believe anything you read online.’ “
Just because the couple split doesn’t mean they stopped working together. Zedd revealed that there are more collaborations with Selena Gomez to come.
” ‘I Want You To Know’ was the first one — we recorded a couple more songs that we haven’t finished yet. And I loved the voice. I thought it had a really great energy, so I told Ryan Tedder, who I wrote the song with. He loved the voice, so to me, I didn’t want to hear anything else on it, so I decided that this should be my first single.

The pair’s single, “I Want You To Know,” currently sits at No. 17 on the Hot 100 Billboard charts. “Beautiful Now” is the third single to be released off his True Colors album, which will be released on May 18.
Zedd also announced the first batch of cities on his True Colors world tour for the fall. He will perform in Austin, Miami, New York City, and San Francisco before embarking to Australia, Europe, and South America.
