Steven Tyler Will Debut Country Single On ‘American Idol’ Finale
Steven Tyler will introduce his new country single “Love Is Your Name” on Wednesday night’s American Idol finale. It will be the first release from his upcoming country solo album.
As the Inquisitr reported, Tyler moved to Nashville earlier this year to work with top country songwriters. He has since signed with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group, and has been teasing fans about what’s to come. After the partnership was solidified, he shared his excitement over the new venture with Rolling Stone Country.
“There was an immediate connection with Scott and Big Machine, and Nashville seems like the perfect segue for a solo project… and Dot Records is the right fit. My earliest influences put me somewhere between the Everly Brothers and the Carter Family, and this project is all about me paying homage to my country roots. I’ve been working with some f***ing epic Nashville songwriters, getting my feet wet with the style and groove.”
When Borchetta — who also serves as mentor on American Idol — took the contestants to his Nashville headquarters, Tyler was shown in the studio recording. It was then that we learned he will duet with Jax on the finale.
Rolling Stone reports that Aerosmith fans shouldn’t panic. According to songwriter Cary Barlowe, the rocker’s signature sound shines through, even in the country format.
“Everything he sings is going to sound a little like Aerosmith, because he’s the voice. But he’s been talking about how he wants some of it to be organic. It’s obviously not going to be traditional country or old-school country sounding, but he does want mandolin and a banjo in there, to change it up.”
When Steven Tyler isn’t busy making new music, he’s impressing people on airplanes. Dish Nation reports that the music icon rushed to help save a man who had a medical emergency during a Delta Airlines flight on Sunday. Tyler was traveling from Nashville to Los Angeles for the American Idol finale. The man was walking down the aisle and collapsed near the rocker. An eyewitness said Steven jumped from his seat and didn’t hesitate to try to help revive the man. Luckily, a nurse and a doctor were also on the flight. They were able to assist the passenger, who had mixed too much alcohol with his medication.
Earlier this year, the 67-year-old dad and grandfather was recognized for performing another good deed on a flight. He was flying Southwest Airlines when he learned the little girl sitting behind him was celebrating her birthday. He made her day, and made himself a brand new fan, by singing “Happy Birthday” to her. Her mom posted the video to Youtube, bragging, “What a great guy!”
