Rain May Be Pouring On Klassic Stages: ‘Mortal Kombat X’ Co-Creator Ed Boon Teases Fans With Possible DLCs

Mortal Kombat X’s creative director, Ed Boon, sure knows how to keep Mortal Kombat fans on the edge of their seats with his mysterious and allusive tweets.

Earlier this week, Boon again threw Mortal Kombat fans off their feet with his tweet that’s possibly a teaser to upcoming updates to Mortal Kombat X. Complete with a promo poster for a Broadway show scheduled on Tuesday entitled, “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles,” fans instantly knew that with Boon’s characteristic dropping of exciting possibilities and leaks about the latest Mortal Kombat X game, this wasn’t just about Rain, the Beatles tribute.

IGN reports that this tweet could be Boon’s allusion to legacy and long-time Mortal Kombat favorite Rain coming to Mortal Kombat X.

To date, there are no official announcements regarding Rain coming as a playable character on Mortal Kombat X, but speculations on his possible appearance on the newest Mortal Kombat game started circulating around the web when he was first spotted in a story trailer released in February. A previous report by Game Spot also publicized a feat by “code tinkerer” XVermillion who was able to tap into the Mortal Kombat X files and play as Rain.

Rain, the water ninja, is best known by Mortal Kombat fans as the violet-colored Scorpion and first came to the Mortal Kombat franchise in 1995 when he was introduced in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. He also re-appeared in the more recent Mortal Kombat reboot in 2011 as DLC.

Boon is not promising anything yet, but the Rain DLC is not unimaginable at this stage. Mortal Kombat fanatics are definitely looking forward to such DLC.

In another news, Mortal Kombat X players have been clamoring for classic stages DLC in Mortal Kombat X. This week, fans went to Boon for answers if NetherRealm Studios is looking at classic stages for Mortal Kombat X and Design & Trend gives us his yet-again thrilling response.

“We’ve discussed that and a few other ‘klassics’ returning.”

Not yet official at this stage, but Mortal Kombat X fans rejoice because NetherRealm Studios is not dropping an official no. Boon’s “we’ll see” sentiment should at least keep everyone satisfied for now.

Mortal Kombat X is already getting better and better with the freemium content available, and the list of DLC packs in store for players to look forward to. Official available and soon-to-be-released DLCs could be found in a previous report by the Inquisitr, and that’s what every Mortal Kombat X player should be looking at for the mean time.

Mortal Kombat X was released to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC consoles on April 14. The most recent character DLC released for Mortal Kombat X as of today is Jason Voorhees from the well-known horror franchise Friday the 13th.
