Bobbi Kristina Brown Update: Bobby Brown, Pat Houston Now Co-Guardians Of Bobbi Kristina — What That Means

Bobbi Kristina Brown now has co-guardians Bobby Brown and Pat Houston responsible for making her decisions. The legal ruling came after weeks in which Bobby alone was responsible for the 22-year-old’s medical care, which has included a ventilator and feeding tube, both necessitated after Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in her home on January 31, reported Us Weekly.

“We are delighted to inform the public that the court has appointed Bobby Brown and Pat Houston as co-guardians of Bobbi Kristina Brown (‘Krissi’). Both Mr. Brown and Ms. Houston are jointly responsible for decisions related to Krissi’s care and medical needs,” stated David Long-Daniels, Counsel for Pat Houston and Cissy Houston, and Christopher Brown, Counsel for Bobby Brown.

With public knowledge of the arguing among family members, both on Whitney Houston’s side and Bobby Brown’s side, many have been concerned about who will take responsibility for paying the medical costs for Krissi. With an eye to that concern, the court announced an additional role for attorney Bedelia Hargrove, who will become the conservator.

“Ms. Hargrove is responsible for Krissi’s assets, including her likeness, rights and legal claims,” according to the legal statement.

But what does all this mean? Bobby Brown initially filed to control Bobbi Kristina’s finances, which include millions left to her by Whitney Houston, and the court denied that request, reported the New York Daily News.

Brown had requested the court to make him the conservator of her financial affairs as well as her legal guardian. Instead, the judge has divided guardianship between Bobbi Kristina’s father and her aunt, Pat Houston. Hargrove, the conservator, as noted, is not affiliated with either.

“[Bobby Brown] has no financial power,” said an insider.

As for who does control the strings on the financial purse, that’s Pat Houston. She’s the executor of the trust created by Whitney. And while Bobbi Kristina is her only heir, the trust stipulated different ages at which the money would be paid out.

Now, however, as Bobbi Kristina remains non-responsive in a long-term care facility, money is needed for causes that Whitney Houston never imagined, such as cleaning her daughter’s feeding tube, doing physical therapy to keep her muscles from cramping, and checking on her breathing tube.

As the Inquisitr reported, a medical specialist revealed that Bobbi Kristina may remain forever in that state. A psychology expert described Bobby Brown as in denial when he insisted she was “awake” and “watching him.”

Dr. Mark Liker, Medical Director and Neurosurgeon with Dignity Health Northridge Hospital, described her daily life.

“There is a feeding tube that provides her with adequate nutrition, and a nutritionist that’s ensuring that she is getting the right calories and nutrients,” explained Liker.

With a breathing tube inserted because of her tracheotomy, Bobbi Kristina also needs care for her lungs. But what of her ability to move and respond? That depends on physical therapy and how much of her brain has recovered after the deprivation of oxygen that occurred prior to her discovery lying face down in a bathtub, unconscious.

As for her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, he is out of rehab and still hoping to see his girlfriend. Bobby Brown has banned him from visiting her since that tragedy on January 31.
