George And Amal Clooney Divorce? Not Likely: George Gushes Over Amal In New Interview
Since George and Amal Clooney got married last September, there have been rumors of a pending divorce. Clooney, the self-proclaimed bachelor, suddenly marrying the well-educated non-celebrity Amal Alamuddin after a short courtship seemed almost too unreal to believe.
But several months later, the couple is still going strong. If George Clooney’s words about Amal in a new series of interviews is any indication, they are still on their honeymoon. While promoting his new film Tomorrowland, Clooney told Entertainment Tonight that there’s a huge list of qualities that made Amal the object of his affection.
“She’s an amazing human being. And she’s caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. And she’s got a great sense of humor. There’s a number of reasons why.”
He told ET he’s proud just seeing her in her legal robes arguing at the International Court of Appeals. But he also likes her impeccable style. In an interview with Extra he said her clothing taste just comes naturally.
“From the day I met her, she has the incredibly eclectic, sort of wild style. She just has her own style, she doesn’t have a stylist or anything, she just picks clothes. She shows up, and I’m like, that’s unbelievable, she’ll tell me she’s gonna wear some dress, then I see it and I’m like, wow, that’s stunning.”
Amal Clooney’s fashion sense won the hearts of columnists before she married George. Since they tied the knot she’s been embraced by the fashion community, even having a high-priced bag named after her. Magazines have tallied up the high cost of Amal’s stylishly casual outfits.
George Clooney turned 54 on May 6. He told Extra he celebrated with Amal, 37, but joked he couldn’t remember all of it. He also dismissed reports Amal gave him some high-priced presents for his birthday.
“Didn’t get a blender, didn’t get a Porsche.
“I can’t tell you that [how we celebrated]… We had a little party last night… from what I remember of it, it was a good time.”
George and Amal were in attendance at the Costume Institute (MET) Gala Monday night and have become New Yorkers for at least the immediate future.
Amal Clooney recently took on a short-term job at Columbia University teaching in its law faculty. It puts her in the same city as George, who is filming Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster and co-starring Julia Roberts. The film is set for 2016 release.
