‘Hart Of Dixie’ Canceled: Season 4 Finale Confirmed As Series Finale After CW Cancellation
Hart of Dixie has been canceled by the CW, and as fans now know, the series finale has already aired. The move doesn’t come as a complete surprise to fans, but it is disappointing news nonetheless. After four seasons of the show, things have wrapped for good.
TV Line shares the news that the Season 4 finale will serve as the series finale. Luckily the last episode did tie up loose ends fairly well, so fans were able to bid farewell on a positive note. It had been expected that the CW would cancel Hart of Dixie, but the news didn’t become official until now.
As E! Online notes, this is a delicate time of year for television viewers. There are a number of fan favorite shows that are still waiting for word regarding a renewal or a cancellation. While Revenge has been canceled and will air its series finale on Sunday, a number of major network shows still have their fates hanging in the balance. More answers should come as the network upfronts take place next week.
While fans are optimistic about an opportunity coming together for Mindy Project fans, with a Fox cancellation and possible move to Hulu, other shows are less certain. Most would bet that The Good Wife, Scandal, and Grey’s Anatomy will be back, but others like Secrets and Lies could go either way.
The CW has left fans hanging less than most of the other networks, with many renewals having come out a while back. The only other CW show that was waiting for renewal news was The Messengers, and news has just come out that CW canceled this one too. The Hart of Dixie cancellation had been speculated about quite a bit, with some assumptions back in March that the show indeed was done for good.
As TVLine recapped after the Season 4 finale in March, Zoe went into labor at Lemon’s engagement party and she married Wade in her hospital room. The baby was born in the midst of it all and there was a big musical number to cap it all off. Lemon and Lavon got married and everybody seemingly was set to live happily ever after.
Fans were quite happy with the Season 4 finale, as it did leave things tied together pretty well. Despite that, fans still would have loved to get another season of the show. Not every series gets the opportunity to leave fans in a good place when the season finale has to be put together before a renewal or cancellation is in place. In the case of this show, however, it seems fans were able to be left satisfied.
