Natalie Morales Rumors Don’t Ruin ‘Today Show’ Host’s Mother’s Day

Oddball accusations do seem to follow Natalie Morales. Rumors once claimed Matt Lauer and Morales had an extra-marital affair and that the Today Show host was pregnant. Although the latest rumors are not nearly as tabloid crazy as that, it is still being said that Lauer is leaning on NBC management to have Morales fired from the show only to be shifted over to Deadline. Fortunately, Morales is not letting these rumors spoil her Mother’s Day 2015 celebration with her family.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, NBC officials blasted the Natalie Morales rumors, claiming they were total “hogwash” based purely upon rampant speculation.

“This is all hogwash,” a senior Today Show source said. “Natalie is beloved by the staff and millions of fans. It’s pretty obvious this vicious rumor is being spread by a competitor nervous that we have won a week in the demo and are moving toward regaining our place as the number one morning show.”

The original Natalie Morales rumors claimed the female Today Show host was being told her firing was really a promotion in disguise.

“They’ll try to position this as a ‘promotion’ for Natalie — but make no mistake, she’s not happy,” said an unnamed source.

If Natalie really is not happy, then she has been hiding it very well for Mother’s Day. Morales spent time with her mother, Penelope Morales, and treated her to a day of pampering.

“I want my mom to feel like a queen,” she says, according to the Today Show. “So I thought let’s surprise her with a little bit of glamour, because she deserves that.”

Natalie also shared that much of her own inner strength came from lessons learned from her mother.

“I think I’ve learned from my mom to always know where you come from, and stay true to who you are. She is somebody who has never wavered,” says Natalie. “She is humble to the core. She is strong. She’s just magnificent. My mom is, simply put, the most amazing woman I know… the person I strive to be.”

The Natalie Morales rumors have yet to receive a response from the Today Show host. NBC continues to deny them, but some fans say the situation mirrors the history between Matt Lauer and Ann Curry, who was eventually fired from the show. Lauer recalls being frustrated by those rumors at the time, and claimed he actually supported Curry.

“It was a hard time for everybody,” Laurer said at the time. “We were getting kicked around a lot. Some of it was self-inflicted and perhaps deserved. I don’t think the show and the network handled the transition well. You don’t have to be Einstein to know that. It clearly did not help us. We were seen as a family, and we didn’t handle a family matter well.”
