WWE Rumors: Is The Shield Going To Reunite At WWE Payback? — It’s Really Not That Far-Fetched
The way things were going, Randy Orton was going to get another crack at Seth Rollins and the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Payback. Then, Roman Reigns was added to the match for a triple threat match. After last night’s Monday Night RAW, Dean Ambrose was added to the match and now all three former members of The Shield are in it. With that, the rumors started to fly.
Yes, the main event at the next Pay-Per-View has been changed to a Fatal Four-Way with the addition of Dean Ambrose. Once the “Lunatic Fringe” was added into the match, fans were happy, but not everyone realized right away that all three former members of The Shield would be doing battle.
Now, there are technically three faces and one heel (Rollins) in the match. It’s kind of strange when you really think about how this whole thing came about.
Randy Orton left The Authority a couple months ago and has been feuding with Rollins since his return from injury. They had their big match at WrestleMania 31, but everyone knew the feud wouldn’t end there.
At that same event, Roman Reigns was in the main event to face off with Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title. Lesnar was dominating the match, but then Rollins cashed in his MITB briefcase, and ended up taking the title.
Dean Ambrose was in the big ladder match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 31, and he didn’t win. He actually hasn’t had a whole lot to do with the other former members of The Shield in quite a long time, and he’s just been kind of there biding his time.
Ambrose has been feuding with Luke Harper for a while now, but that’s about it.
Now, RAW went down last night, and Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins to get a spot in the main event match at Payback. Once that happened, some people were just excited. Others, their minds started going in different directions.

It may be wishful thinking, but it kind of makes sense, too. Let’s break it down.
- Seth Rollins is WWE Champion and a part of The Authority.
- Dean Ambrose has just kind of been there and not doing much in the past few months.
- The mega-push for Roman Reigns has failed miserably.
- Rumors have been flying lately that Ambrose could be turned heel soon.
- A reunited Shield could really help when Brock Lesnar returns and wants revenge on Seth Rollins.
Now, there is no guarantee that The Shield will reunite at WWE Payback, but the rumors are flying and it makes a good bit of sense. It also would be a great thing for the fans, so we just have to wait and see.
