Robert Pattinson and fiancee FKA twigs chose an interesting event to make their first red carpet appearance as a couple. The lovebirds attended the Met Gala together, and some might view their choice of venue to make their big debut as a big F-you to Kristen Stewart.
According to E! News, Kristen Stewart avoided running into her ex by skipping the Met Gala. The Clouds of Sils Maria actress really lucked out because she had a great excuse to miss the Met Gala this year — she had to be in Seoul, South Korea, for Chanel’s resort show.
Those who used to follow the Robsten romance might wonder whether Robert Pattinson was sending his former flame a very clear message by attending the Met Gala with FKA twigs. According to Us Weekly, Kristen was forced to attend the event alone back in 2013. She and Rob were still dating at the time, but their relationship was doomed — it never really recovered after Kristen’s little tryst with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
It’s possible that Rob didn’t attend the 2013 Met Gala with Kristen back then because he was unsure about his future with his Twilight co-star. As People reports, Robsten split for good just a few days after the event.
It looks like Robert Pattinson has put that rocky romance far behind him. He looked pretty happy last night with his new fiancee, and FKA twigs used the high-profile event to prove to the world that she might be an even bigger fashion force that Kristen Stewart. The “Two Weeks” singer didn’t have to bare any skin to rock one of the raciest looks of the night — instead she chose to rock a dress adorned with male genitalia. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs are “truly in love,” and they haven’t been shy about showing their affection for one another in public. However, perhaps they wanted to wait until they got engaged before they started attending red carpet events together — they’ll probably get even less privacy now that they’ve made things Hollywood official. Maybe it was just a coincidence — not a K-Stew diss — that they decided to make their red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala.
