The Willis Family is a new tv show that will premiere tonight on TLC. The show will follow the Willis family clan as they live their daily lives through making beautiful music. Reality show viewers will hear their tragic story, as well as see how the family has taken tragedy and turned it into something positive.
The Willis family has made quite a name for themselves over the years through sharing their unique Irish music, which they have performed all over the country in Irish Festivals, news station appearances, and even the Grand Ole Opry. But before the Willis’ became famous for their music, they made headlines two decades ago because of a terrible family tragedy.
In the winter of 1994, six of Toby Willis’ brothers and sisters died in a burning car crash while on their way to visit family members. The accident happened near Milwaukee. The parents of those children who died are the grandparents of the children that are appearing on TLC‘s new show. Toby Willis, the father of the new clan on the TLC show, was a grown man with a wife and children in 1994 when his very young siblings died in that fiery crash, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Today, Toby Willis lives a life of joy with his family, which includes his wife and his 12 children. The kids all remember hearing the story about their uncles and aunts who died in 1994, and they often perform and write songs in dedication to them. The talented Willis children, who are homeschooled, spend most of their days surrounded by their loving family members while creating beautiful music for the world to hear. Their unique sound lands them the most exciting gigs all over the United States. According to the Willis family’s website, singing is not their only talent, the Willis family is also a family made up of writers, dancers, and artists.
