‘Suicide Squad’ Cast Photo Revealed, Harley Quinn Steals The Show
Since the announcement of the Suicide Squad, fans have speculated about the cast members and how they would be adapted into real life characters. Jared Leto’s Joker interpretation sent the internet into a frenzy, with some good reviews and some bad. However, it was instrumental in sending social media aflutter with hopes that the next character would soon be revealed. Soon after, a glimpse of a bald Will Smith as Deadshot was leaked, once again the internet went crazy as the anticipation built. It was thought that a new character would be revealed every couple of weeks. However, David Ayer decided to throw out all of his cards and share a photo of nine members of the cast, minus the Joker.
The image shows a large cast of characters, many more than what some might have expected, yet enough to bring reality to the Suicide Squad within the DC Universe’s film industry. Pictured from left to right is Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Asewale Akinnouye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. Missing from the shot is Jared Leto as the Joker — maybe he took the photo.
The Verge shared the image and praised DC for hitting the franchise head on rather than taking the time to build the franchise in a slow methodical manner like Marvel has. Instead, DC is releasing some of their biggest villains onto the film industry, prompting a need for the Justice League to band together and save the world.
In addition to the Suicide Squad, Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will showcase the title characters, as well as Aquaman and Wonder Woman. The cast of the Justice League will be the next big anticipated announcement from the DC film universe.
Despite the announcement of the Suicide Squad cast photo, many fans are focusing on Harley Quinn, whose beginning was nothing more than a battered housewife, nearly a throw away character, who grew into one of the most admired villains to grace the comic book universe, which may be the most worthwhile and anticipated character in the movie, according to Forbes.
Although the image shows fans the look of each character, the biggest anticipation now is how they will act on screen and how they will interact with each other.
