Fans are all up in arms about everything that happens in the film and what could happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the future. Still, there is much to learn from Age of Ultron including some hidden secrets and Easter eggs.
The ending and credits scene for Age of Ultron has been revealed and explained, but there’s much more to look carefully for in the film. Den of Geek has gathered a lot of information on secrets and Easter eggs so let’s check them out.
Please let it be known that there are some serious SPOILERS ahead so stop reading now if you don’t want to know.
~ As the assault on Baron Strucker’s fortress happens, Captain America speaks into a device on his wrist that helps control his shield. This is actually something that Cap used sparingly back in the early days of the “Avengers” and it was designed by Tony Stark.
~ Baron Strucker has some Chitauri technology stuck in his basement.
~ Laura Barton, Hawkeye’s wife, is introduced in this film. In the comics, she was his wife and the mother of his son on Earth-1610 (Ultimate Universe), but not of Earth-616.
~ In Age of Ultron, the Avengers do get a hold of Loki’s scepter which Stark learns is holding the gem known as the “Mind Stone.” This, of course, is leading more toward the full introduction of Thanos which will be coming in a few films.
~ The whole funny scene scene about the different Avengers trying to lift Mjolnir is one of the best in the entire film. It’s also got a lot of comic truth to it as the “whosoever holds this hammer” thing isn’t Marvel just trying to be funny. The hammer actually has that inscription on it.
~ Baron Strucker acts as a father figure of sorts to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, but their true father from the comics is Magneto. Due to the issues with Fox owning the rights to the X-Men, they couldn’t mention that fact here.
~ Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson reference a missing persons case that needs to be worked on, and they are speaking of Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier.
~ The nation of Wakanda is discussed and there is much more to come on that as it is the “nation” ruled by Black Panther.
~ When Tony Stark refers to his Hulkbuster armor as “Veronica,” that’s not a Marvel Comics’ nod but one going to “Archie Comics.”
~ When Hulk is having a bit of a radioactive tantrum, Stark refers to Dr. Banner and then says something about “puny Banner.” That’s straight out of the comic books as something that Hulk said as he never acknowledged that he and Banner were the same person and would say that “puny Banner” ruined things.
~ The visions that come to Captain America and Black Widow are tied to ABC’s Agent Carter television series.
~ At the end of the film, everyone gathers together and meets up at the “New Avengers Training Facility.” While it is actually a “new” facility, that seems far too coincidental to mention it as “New Avengers,” don’t you think?
~ Oh, yeah. This almost happens at the end too.
~ From the mid-credits scene, how did Thanos get the Infinity Gauntlet out of Odin’s trophy room? Don’t forget that Loki is currently posing as Odin so it probably wasn’t that difficult.
There is surely a lot more and even more that will be found later on. Avengers: Age of Ultron is in the middle of the MCU and just setting the path for the second half of things that will just lead to a future of awesome movies. How many hidden secrets and Easter eggs could you find?
