Sex Offender Locked His Girlfriend In A Wooden Box For Four Months

Missouri police are searching for 47-year-old James Horn, a registered sex offender who is accused of locking his girlfriend inside a box for four months.

According to the Huffington Post, Horn has been on the run from the authorities since yesterday (Thursday, April 30). He had kept his girlfriend locked in a box in the home they shared in Sedalia, a city southeast of Kansas City.

Police have been searching for James Horn since they received a 911 call from a woman who claimed she had been locked in a box by her boyfriend, but managed to escape. According to the New York Daily News, the woman was “hysterical” when she made the call.

“When officers contacted the victim, she told them the suspect routinely locked her in a wooden box inside the residence where they lived,” said a spokesperson for the Sedalia Police Department.

The girlfriend claims she had been locked in a box by James Horn since the start of the year, almost four months ago. According to local news, she was able to break free from the box and flee to a neighbor’s house to call 911. The details aren’t entirely clear, but it seems that she may have only been locked in a box when James Horn went to work. However, the sex offender was keeping her captive inside their own home for four straight months.

A search warrant was obtained to search the residence where James Horn kept his girlfriend locked in a box. Police found a large wooden box that fit the description provided by the victim. The box and a few other items were taken by the authorities for evidence when James Horn is finally captured.

“It did appear to be constructed for the purpose of concealing a person,” said the police spokesperson.

Keeping his girlfriend locked in a box isn’t the first time James Horn has been caught abusing his significant other. Back in 1992, when James Horn was 24-years-old, he was accused of kidnapping and raping his current girlfriend in Shelby County, Tennessee. According to the girlfriend, she had dated Horn for five weeks before dumping him. The next day, he tied her hands and mouth with duct tape in her own home and forced her to have sex with him.

James Horn has been described as a 47-year-old white male with brown hair, 5’11”, and 175 pounds. While running from the police, Horn abandoned a vehicle on the outskirts of Sedalia.
