‘The Voice’ Season 8 Top 6: Are We Due For A Devastating Elimination?
Last week’s elimination on The Voice was surprising, but not devastating. Subjectively speaking, Hannah Kirby and Corey Kent White were the weakest links when compared to the other talents still on the show. Although White’s “When I See You Smile” did better on iTunes than certain other contestants, more popular artists on The Voice prevailed.
Unfortunately, this week there really aren’t any mediocre Voice hopefuls left, at least not since Koryn Hawthorne catapulted her way into the Top 8 with an amazing performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Make It Rain.” She’s something a front-runner now in a surprising turn. Indeed, this season has been very good for the women contestants, who make up two-thirds of the competition now. The odds suggest Season 8 of The Voice may crown another woman winner.

However, before getting to that, we’re due at least one devastating elimination. This is usually the part of the season on a show like The Voice where someone leaves way early. That’s because audience members take their presence entirely for granted and assume that others will vote them into the next week of competition.
So which remaining Voice contestants are most likely to hit the Bottom 3 and possibly be eliminated at this stage? Let’s have a look.

India Carney may be back in the Bottom 3 again this week, since her presence there last week strongly suggests that there are at least three Voice competitors who are more popular than she is at the moment. This could be changed by a great performance (as was the case with Koryn), but ONLY a flawless performance of a perfectly chosen song will likely spare India. Otherwise, she’ll be singing for her life two weeks in a row.
Joshua Davis is Adam Levine’s last remaining contestant. I blame this fact on Adam backing Deanna Johnson over Brian Johnson a few weeks ago. Although it was a sweet gesture that helped a girl struggling with self-confidence, it practically doomed his team’s chances a win.
Joshua charmed everyone this past week on The Voice with Sting ballad “Fields of Gold.” “Hold Back The River” nearly doomed him, but perhaps an up-tempo Bruce Springsteen song might work better? As with India, song choice and the presence of more popular artists may put him in the bottom.
THANKS EVERYONE it really means a lot to me I hope all of you are supporting the artists you love #VoiceTop8 pic.twitter.com/w6fVbp9DrD

This may be the week that Sawyer Fredericks, who has yet to get near the Voice Bottom 3, has to rely on an instant save. Not because he does poorly (he’s been fairly consistent) and not because he’s less liked (it’s safe to consider him the most popular Voice contestant). This may be the week that Sawyer Frederick fans slip. They may not vote has hard, assuming he’s safe because of his “obvious” popularity. Or they’ll contribute votes to other highly competitive Voice artists, not seeing the harm.
In any case, these artists strike me as most vulnerable and because of their talent, losing any of them would be devastating. The good news is that there are such good singers left at this stage of The Voice that it would be hard to be completely disappointed with whoever ends up winning Season 8.
Which elimination on The Voice would you consider to be devastating?
