‘The X-Files’ Spoilers: Chris Carter Talks About Mulder And Scully’s Relationship
The X-Files is coming back to Fox, and fans of the series are excited. Fans have not received much information about the series revival yet, but that is starting to change. Chris Carter spoke with the media about the return of the series, and he shared a few details about the revival, according to TV Line.
This six-episode long journey back into the world of The X-Files will begin production later this summer. The plot of the series is still being kept under wraps, but Carter did tease that the episodes will be connected.
“Per X-Files tradition, the six episodes will blend ‘ongoing Mulder and Scully conspiracy saga’ with ‘standalone episodes,'” says Carter, adding, “It will all be of a piece, meaning that it won’t feel disconnected.”
It was also revealed that fans may see the return of the Lone Gunmen. Mulder looked to these geeky sidekicks whenever he needed outside expertise, and Carter teased that there is a “big chance” that fans will see them helping Mulder out once again on the revival.
According to a previous Inquisitr report, David Duchovny revealed that fans would see the return of Skinner and the “Smoking Man” on the series as well. With the return of the Lone Gunmen, this makes most of the original cast a go for the revival. However, all three died on the series. There are ways to bring them back, though.
There are some more behind the scenes faces returning to the series as well. Another TV Line report revealed that Glen Morgan and James Wong have signed deals to bring them back to the series. They will each write and direct one episode, and they will join Chris Carter as executive producers.
As for Mulder and Scully, Chris Carter did offer some teasers for their relationship as well. He revealed that they are still a couple when the revival picks up the action, but their relationship “is not where we left it.”
Fans have long wondering about this pair’s relationship. They have never shared an on-screen love scene, and that probably won’t change on the revival. However, Carter did tease some more about the pair to TV Line.
“It was part of the mystery of The X-Files. That relationship was kind of mysterious. Did they get together? Didn’t they get together? If they’ve got a child together, when did they get together? These are questions that we will deal with and answer in good time.”
Production on the new X-Files will start later this summer. A premiere date for the six-episode run has not been set. What do you think? Are you excited for the return of Mulder and Scully to the small screen?
