Nepal Earthquake: 4-Month-Old Baby Rescued From Rubble 22 Hours After Earthquake
Just a few hours after the Inquistr reported about the story of Rishi Khanal, a victim who was rescued from a collapsed building 80 hours after the Nepal earthquake, we now have another incredible tale of survival coming in from the country. Nepali language newspaper Kathmandu Times has released several pictures that show the moment a 4-month-old infant was rescued from a collapsed building.
According to a KTLA 5 report, the 4-month-old baby was trapped inside the debris of a fallen building in the town of Bhaktapur for more than 22 hours before he was rescued. According to reports, a rescue team consisting of Nepali Army soldiers looking for survivors in the building did not notice the infant when they initially searched the rubble. However, the team heard a feeble cry from the mound of rubble and after a few hours of careful digging, managed to safely rescue the baby boy from the collapsed building.
The baby, who has been identified as Sonit Awal, is reportedly in stable condition and does not have any internal injuries, doctors treating him have confirmed. The boy is expected to make a full recovery.
Earlier, there were doubts regarding the veracity of the story regarding the rescue of the baby following the Nepal Earthquake. However, CNN has since then independently confirmed that the baby boy was indeed rescued from the collapsed building after being trapped inside for over 22 hours.
Meanwhile, there are fresh reports coming in about the possibility of the death toll in the Nepal Earthquake rising to over 10,000. This has been confirmed by Sushil Koirala, the Prime Minister of the country.
“The government is doing all it can for rescue and relief on a war footing,” Koirala said in an interview. “It is a challenge and a very difficult hour for Nepal.”
India and several other countries continue to offer support to Nepal and have transported tons of goods, medicine, and food to the people affected by the Nepal Earthquake.
