May 5 is the first date to remember for all Mortal Kombat fans eagerly waiting for the release of the first DLC for Mortal Kombat X. Due three weeks after Mortal Kombat X officially released in April 14, the first DLC will introduce well-known icon Jason Voorhees from the iconic horror movie Friday the 13th.
Previous Mortal Kombat titles have already seen guests characters such as Kratos from God of War and Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street. Gamers are excited to see more from Mortal Kombat X since NetherRealm Studios announced that the May 5 DLC will only be the first of four DLC installments for Mortal Kombat X throughout the year.
Game Rant reports more about the upcoming Mortal Kombat X DLC , which will be available to players via the $30 season pass. The season pass, more commonly referred to as the Kombat Pack, will cover the Jason Voorhees DLC contained in the Horror Pack, the Samurai Pack, and the three future DLC releases.
Aside from the Jason Voorhees character addition, the Horror Pack for Mortal Kombat X will also include skins for three more characters already in-game: Ermac, Mileena, and Reptile.
For those who are still hesitant to purchase the Kombat Pack and want to test out the Jason Voorhees character before making a decision, Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon reveals to VC Post the special towers that could be accessed in Mortal Kombat X.
“According to Boone, the event tower called the Premiere tower will be converted to the Jason Tower when Jason is slated to be released. Boon states that it “gives players a taste of what the character is like to play”. No details on when these special towers will pop up or how long these said events will last, but it looks to be a likely sales pitch strategy to get players interested in unlocking the whole content.”
The following DLCs for Mortal Kombat X available via the Kombat pack should be something players should look out for. Game Rant lists the full details of the four DLCs to come to Mortal Kombat X .
1. The Ultimate Horror Pack Playable character Jason Voorhe Horror skins Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile and Pharaoh Ermac 2. Another interesting DLC to look forward to is still a rumor circulating the web. But Mortal Kombat X fans all over the world are curious and excited, since the hints came from the Mortal Kombat director himself. In a response to a tweet by a Mortal Kombat fan, Boone hints at the possibility that non-playable characters may be patched to Mortal Kombat X’s main roster in the future.
“ @LazyEyedJ @noobde So Ed are you secretly gonna patch in the NPC’s from story to make them playable? EB: U mean like a “Story Pack”?
— Ed Boon (@noobde) April 18, 2015
Since a number of character favorites such as Frost, Rain, Smoke and Kabal—to name a few—did not make it to the playable roster, fans are just hoping that Mortal Kombat X will soon receive Boone’s so-called Story Pack.
The previous patch before the upcoming May 5 DLC was patch 1.02 which contained tweaks to various characters move sets including Shinnok, Sub-Zero, Takeda Sr., and Takeda Jr. The patch also addressed Mortal Kombat X’s issues with balance, connectivity, and overall online stability.
