Stana Katic Marries In Private Croatian Wedding: What About ‘Castle’ Season 8?

Stana Katic married her boyfriend of many years earlier this month, according to Us Magazine. After Castle wrapped production on Season 7, the actress escaped to Croatia to marry Kris Brkljac. Her representative revealed that the couple married in a private family monastery on the Dalmatian Coast.

No other details about the wedding were revealed, but the couple did share a black and white photo of their hands with rings on after the big ceremony. This news has been announced just after the actress celebrated her 37th birthday on Sunday.

Not much is known about their relationship. The actress has managed to keep her life away from Castle out of the spotlight, but her rep revealed that Katic’s new husband is a “business efficiency consultant and that the pair have been together for many years.”

Katic has been the center of much speculation in recent weeks because of her role on Castle. A previous Inquisitr report spoke about the possibility of the end of Kate Beckett’s time on the series. There are rumors that Nathan Fillion may continue with the series without Stana Katic.

The series has not yet been picked up for Season 8, but Fillion did renew his contract for the series. Katic revealed earlier during the season that her contract was up at the end of Season 7, and she has still not renewed her deal for Castle at this time.

With the future of Castle uncertain, it is possible that the Season 7 finale may also serve as the series finale for the series. Andrew Marlowe is the creator of the popular ABC series, and he talked about the potential end to the series with TV Line.

“It was a bit of a challenge to craft a [finale] when there was so much uncertainty about the show’s future, with our [actors] in negotiations, not knowing if we’re coming back and all that sort of stuff. We were trying to craft a show that had a satisfying conclusion if it is indeed the conclusion, but also some really great, interesting, compelling springboards into next season’s storytelling – if the gods shine upon us and we’re allowed to continue.”

Stana Katic has made it clear in recent interviews that she would be willing to leave the role if there was nothing left creatively for the character to do. She spoke about that possibility with TV Line back in November.

“If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it’s better to stop when you’re on top, because I admire the way that they did that with The Wire, you know? Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don’t milk it ‘just because.’ So for me it’s about art over finance, and as long as we’re creating something that is compelling and that has somewhere to go, then we’re good to go. And when we find that we’re not, when we don’t have anywhere else to go, then it’s time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing. But I don’t know where it’s going to end.”

However, it does sound like there is more to Kate Beckett’s story, and Michael Ausiello from TV Line teased that he has been hearing good things about Katic’s contract negotiations.

Carter Matt shared some new spoilers for the Castle Season 7 finale, and it will put Beckett at a crossroads while taking fans into Castle’s past.

“We’ve been building this storyline for Beckett where she’s feeling a little bit like she needs to do something more, something a little bit bigger…. Where does she go with family? Where does she go with her career? So she’ll end up facing some choices in this that are a little bit unexpected, that may change the trajectory of where she’s going.”

Even if ABC does pick up Castle for Season 8, and Stana Katic decides to sign her contract, there is another issue facing the series. David Amann signed on as show runner for the series for Season 7. He replaced Andrew Marlowe. However, TV reported that Amann has now left the spot as show runner, and there is no one to run the search at the moment. There is now a search being done to find someone new to take the helm if ABC picks the series up.

Fans of the series are sharing their excitement about Katic’s wedding on Twitter, but some are still worried about the fate of Castle.
