Groupon Offering $12,500 Trip To See The Titanic
Groupon has offered some crazy good deals in the past but today’s adventure beats them all. The Chicago based social buying website is offering a $12,500 vacation package that includes a trip to see the Titanic shipwreck aboard a deep-ocean vessel.
The original value of the deal is $59,860 and is offered through the company’s Getaways partnership with travel site Expedia.
Don’t get your hopes up to much though, there is only one spot available for the 13-day excursion at that price.
For your $12,500 you’ll receive road-trip airfare from anywhere in the United States to St. John’s Island, transportation aboard a “professional ship” from St. John’s to the Titanic site and one day of exploration on a deep-ocean vessel.
The buyer also received admission to various events that are celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Titanic’s voyage.
In a funny turn of events the winner also receives a DVD copy of the movie Titanic which have been signed by Leonardo DiCaprio impersonator Frank Lloyd Roberts.
Diving to the bottom of the ocean to see the Titanic hasn’t been done by many people but once again Titanic director James Cameron has us beat, he dove down five miles last week into an ocean area off Papua New Guinea and he will soon dive seven miles down in a 43-inch-wide submersible craft to film two documentaries about ocean creatures that have yet to be filmed or possibly even discovered for that matter.
Would you be willing to spend $12,500 to see the Titanic lay at the bottom of the ocean or is this a deal you’ll be passing on for the time being?
