‘Ted 2’ Red-Band Trailer Released: Features Sexually Assaulted Tom Brady, Civil Rights Debate, And Meticulously Organized Pornography
The first trailer for Ted 2 was a bit of a disappointment. While it suggested that its plot might be thematically denser and more weighty than the original it lacked the laughs and crude gags that we expected.
However the first red-band trailer has not only made it clear that Ted 2 will be just as raunchy and hilarious as the original, but it’s also added further details about the film’s intriguing plot and premise too. You can check it out in all of its glory below.
Warning it is packed to the brim with expletives though, so proceed with caution.
Very, very funny stuff. Ted 2 will once again re-team Mark Wahlberg’s John Bennett with Seth MacFarlane’s adorable but foul-mouthed talking teddy bear, Ted.
After Ted marries Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth), his girlfriend from the original film, the pair decide to take the next step in their relationship by having a baby together. Unfortunately because Ted is a cuddly toy he doesn’t have the necessary equipment to impregnate his girlfriend. So they decide to proceed with artificial insemination instead. However the courts insists that they need to prove that Ted is human in order for him to have custody of his child.
And the trailer proves that director and co-writer Seth MacFarlane will have a lot of fun exploring just how Ted will become the father to his child. This will see him looking for the best possible sperm-donor, and as a pair of proud New Englanders there was only going to be one choice for the pair: New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady.
As the trailer depicts though, rather than asking Brady for a sample of his sperm, the pair decide to break into his house and get it while he’s asleep. Unfortunately for them, Brady wakes up before their pumping exploits can get underway and then duly kicks them out of his house in a rather forceful manner.
There are several other hilarious exchanges in Ted 2’s trailer, all of which suggest the sequel will be just as hilarious as its hugely successful original, which grossed $549.4 million back in 2012.
Not only is Ted compared to both “garbage” and “a piece of s***,” but Amanda Seyfried’s 26-year-old Samantha Leslie Jackson goes from potential Frozen fan to cool, drug-addled lawyer in a second and John Bennett’s meticulously filed and organized pornography collection proves just how depraved he is.
But the film’s exploration of civil rights suggests that Ted 2 will also approach a complex and sensitive issue through the prism of comedy, while at the same time making crude, rude and downright disgusting jokes. And I for one can’t wait. Ted 2 will be released on June 26, 2015.
