Fans Of ‘The Bang Theory’ Savor Every Moment, Waiting For The Cliffhanger Season End
With only three episodes left of the eighth season, fans of The Bang Theory are savoring every moment. So much has happened that the cliffhanger in “The Commitment Determination” could go in any direction.
The episode opens with Leonard’s trip back to school. The show’s website explains that Leonard is set to give the commencement address at his former high school, but a canceled flight threatens to stop him giving the speech.

“Leonard: So, for the remainder of my speech, this is for the invisible kids. Maybe you never fit in. Or maybe you were the smallest kid in the school. Or the heaviest. Or the weirdest. Maybe you’re graduating and you still haven’t even had your first kiss. By the way, nineteen, and Geraldine Coco, wherever you are, thank you. Maybe you don’t have any friends, and guess what, that’s okay. While all the popular kids are off doing whatever — I don’t know what they’re doing because I was never there.”
The Big Bang Theory show writer/producer, Steven Molaro, said that Season 8 will leave many threads open for interpretation and leave the super smart fans guessing until Season 9.
“It is a cliff-hanger, and, when you see it, I think it’ll be pretty obvious where, in some way, season nine will be headed. As someone who is also a fan of the show, I’m experiencing a range of emotions. There are a lot of things that I have feelings about that go down in this episode.”
Love is always hanging in the air on The Big Bang Theory, but it rarely lands fully. However, the finale will roll out two big relationship narratives between Leonard and Penny and Sheldon and Amy.
Amy encourages Sheldon to speed the progress of their relationship, but there is not even a whisper of wedding bells. Sheldon just feels the pressure and compares the pace of their relationship to that of Penny and Leonard, who are not setting a date, even after a year.

We get a glimpse of the excruciating dynamic between Howard and his mother, as Bernadette tries to make the mother in-law’s house feel like home, in spite of having Stuart on the side lines, still living there.
Bless Raj, who comes to realize that Emily is not the girl for him but he has never had to deal with a breakup before, so is crippled with anxiety trying to figure out how.
There is no hint of what’s coming in Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory. The writers are keeping everything close to their chests as planning for the next season enters the very early stages.
