Maia Mitchell: ‘Teen Beach Movie 2’ Star Turns Heads At 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards
Maia Mitchell is poised to become Disney’s latest breakout star, and the Teen Beach Movie 2 star attracted a bit more attention with her head-turning look at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards.
Mitchell earned high marks for her outfit, and even stopped to give some beauty tips during her red carpet interview before the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards.

The Australian actress and singer has been steadily on the rise. After appearing in the children’s series Mortified for the Nine Network, she had her breakout for American audiences in the 2013 Disney Channel original movie Teen Beach Movie. She also stars in the ABC Family drama The Fosters, playing Callie Jacob.
Mitchell now appears to be joining the ranks of other actresses who have used Disney shows as a launching pad to stardom.
Disney appears to be looking at Mitchell the same way. The red carpet appearance came just days after Disney released a new photo from the upcoming Teen Beach Movie 2, one that featured Mitchell along with co-star Ross Lynch.

Though she has made her mark in American television and movies, Mitchell admits that it’s been a bit difficult being away from her home in Australia.
She told the TV Page about feeling homesick.
“It is increasingly hard, actually. It has only just crept up on me how homesick I really am because I am so busy that I don’t really have time to think about it. But I do get homesick. I was just home for the holidays, which was amazing. I saw all my friends from high school. And my boyfriend went with me as well. He met my family. So it is nice to connect my two worlds together.”
In the same interview, Maia Mitchell shared that she almost never got her television breakout role after what she said was an interview she described as a “flop.”
“I said to Scott, who was our casting director, ‘I am so sorry. I know that was crap. Please bring me back because I can act and I love this role and I am so passionate about it.’ And he did.
“The next time I came back was with [creators] Peter Paige and Brad Bredeweg and they said the moment they saw me they knew I was Callie.”
But with the bad interview behind her, Maia Mitchell is on the road to stardom, like many Disney actresses before her. She has a chance to rise even higher with the release of Teen Beach Movie 2, set to premiere this summer.
