Ray Romano Honors Sawyer Sweeten After ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Star Takes Own Life At 19: Madylin Sweeten Mourns
Ray Romano and other members of the Everybody Loves Raymond cast are heartbroken after learning that Sawyer Sweeten is dead at 19. Playing the role of Ray’s son along with his real-life siblings, including big sister Madylin Sweeten, Sawyer seemed like a quiet, shy teenager who now has friends and family members seeking any signs of what could have caused the former child star to commit suicide, reported Us Weekly.
“Everybody was shocked,” revealed Dino May, who managed Sawyer’s career. “[There was] no depression, no nothing. He was a good kid. Teenage stuff, but no depression, no signs or anything.”
In addition, Dino denied any rumors about drug abuse or problems with addiction.
“[He wasn’t] doing drugs or… anything like that… just a great, very quiet, very shy kid,” added the teen’s manager.
Sawyer had a twin brother named Sullivan, who, together with their big sister Madylin, acted on Everybody Loves Raymond from age 1 to age 10. However, while Madylin continued to seek a Hollywood acting career, the twin boys wanted to take a hiatus, revealed Dino.
“They had definitely taken a very strong hiatus. [He] loved his video games,” emphasized Dino. “I always thought he would go into some kind of video game adventure, you know? Good kid, no drugs, no nothing, no drama, good parents. Everybody got along.”
Ray Romano honored the teen and mourned for the loss, reported the Daily Mail.
The 57-year-old actor expressed his heartache.
“[I am] terribly saddened, by the news. He was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around. Just a great energy whenever he was there. My heart breaks for him, his family, and his friends during this very difficult time,” said Romano.
Sawyer’s sister Madylin also spoke out about her grief.
“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”
In addition, as the Inquisitr reported, Patricia Heaton mourned the loss. She played his mother on Everybody Loves Raymond, watching him grow up from a toddler to a child.
“Sawyer Sweeten was a funny and exceptionally bright young man. He is gone from us far too soon,” Heaton shared on social media. “The entire cast of #EverybodyLovesRaymond is in shock. Prayers for the Sweeten family.”
