Kanye West’s Words To Kim About Accepting Bruce’s Transformation Are Beyond Touching
Bruce Jenner revealed details about his transgender journey with Diane Sawyer on Friday, and among facts discussed in regards to relationships with his family members were details about his relationship with his famous reality star step-daughter Kim Kardashian. Worried about disappointing Kim with this new phase in life, Bruce revealed that it was actually Kim’s rapper husband, Kanye West, who helped the 34-year-old to come to terms with her stepfather’s transgender transformation.
Entertainment Weekly recounts Jenner’s words in regards to Kanye’s role in helping Kim accept his choice.
“Kim told me a story. She goes, ‘You know what really turned me around on thinking about this?’ I said, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘Kanye.’ I went, ‘Oh, okay,'” Jenner said. “He says to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, they don’t mean anything.'”
Jenner went on to say that since this touching comment by Kanye, Kim has been the most open and “easiest to talk to” about his journey.
The reported interaction between Kanye and Kim before, which Kim was attempting to understand the decision, came years after an occurrence during which she had witnessed Jenner dressed as a woman. Jenner shared these events which led to Kim’s acceptance. The Sydney Morning Herald reminds of Jenner’s words.
“Kim caught me one time, walked in…She kind of walked out, jumped in the car and went for a drive. I tried to call to ask “hey are you OK?” But it was like this big secret in the house and we never talked about it again.”
The topic finally was discussed a few years later after tabloid articles began to surface. Jenner finally shared his desire to transition. Jenner’s 10 children have all expressed their support for their dad and step-dad and Bruce shared that Kim was not the only one who had caught him cross-dressing. His youngest daughters Kylie and Kendall caught Bruce cross-dressing after Kendall believed that Kylie was stealing her clothes only to find it was Bruce who was trying on the clothing. The two girls never spoke of it.
Kim, as noted, is one of Jenner’s biggest supporters and it is certainly refreshing to hear that such wise and compassionate advice came from often criticized Kanye West.
