Mary Todd Lowrance, aka Mary Lowrance, has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with a high school boy. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the 46-year-old English teacher was booked into the county jail after law enforcement officials learned that the once well-respected teacher carried on an “inappropriate relationship” with a student at the Moises E. Molina High School in Dallas, Texas. The former Dallas Independent School District (ISD) teacher turned herself in with the help of her attorney after it became clear that the police had her under investigation.

The allegations against the teacher surfaced after a confidant of Mary Lowrance reported the information. As investigators gathered information, they learned that rumors swirled around the school about Lowrance and her longtime connection to the student, though the inappropriate relationship seemed to happen over a few months. The investigation revealed that the student is also over the age of 17, but doesn’t specify if the relationship started before that.

Lowrance, who divorced from her husband in 2009, was being held at the Dallas County Jail on $5,000 bond. She has since been released. At this time, it is unclear if she has been cleared of the charges due to his age, or if there is a court date pending. Background records suggest that Mary Todd Lowrance is 46 years old. On her personal Twitter page, it states that she is a teacher, actress and artist. Her Facebook page indicates that she studied Theatre at Sul Ross State University.

Mary Lowrance is not the only teacher who is in hot water this week for problems with the law. In Arizona, Sonya Kindall, a 46-year-old teacher at Maumelle High, was arrested for driving under the influence while on school property. The teacher was arrested after she crashed into another vehicle in the school parking lot.

In San Antonio, Leornard Ramos, a 39-year-old teacher at the Athos Leadership Academy in Bexar County was arrested for indecency with a minor. The former teacher taught 7th and 8th grade, according to MySanAntonio .

In Georgia, the New York Daily News is reporting that a former teacher was arrested on charges of downloading child pornography. In that case, authorities say they arrested 33-year-old Zachary Giebner after an investigation revealed that he frequently downloaded child porn from the Internet. Giebner used to teach at Bryan County High School but quit after allegations surfaced that he spent the night with a student in a hotel room during a school trip.
