Ray Romano And Patricia Heaton Honor Sawyer Sweeten After ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Star Dies At 19
When Sawyer Sweeten co-starred in Everybody Loves Romano with Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton, they never imagined that their laughter and joy at the child star’s antics would one day turn to heartbreak. But that’s precisely what happened as the news broke that actor Sawyer Sweeten killed himself on his family’s front porch at only 19-years-old, reported the Daily Mail. Now the two adult actors are in mourning.
Romano worked with Sawyer for nine years. Recalling the 16-month-old infant when he began his acting career, Ray mourned for what his family and friends had lost.
“[I am] shocked, and terribly saddened, by the news,” revealed the 57-year-old actor. “He was a wonderful and sweet kid to be around. Just a great energy whenever he was there. My heart breaks for him, his family, and his friends during this very difficult time.”
In addition to Everybody Loves Raymond, Sawyer acted with twin brother Sullivan and big sister Madylin, who portrayed Ally on the situation comedy.
It was Madylin who broke the terrible news to the world.
“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”
Patricia Heaton remembered the child actor with love, reported UPI.
“Sawyer Sweeten was a funny and exceptionally bright young man. He is gone from us far too soon,” posted Patricia on Twitter. “The entire cast of #EverybodyLovesRaymond is in shock. Prayers for the Sweeten family.”
Throughout her career on the show, Heaton worked with Sawyer, Sullivan, and Madylin. They looked like the real children of Patricia and Ray because they actually were siblings in real life.
But what would cause such a young person to commit suicide? As the Inquisitr reported, one transgender teen recently revealed what made her decide to end her own life before her suicide.
Reflecting on the death of Leelah Alcorn, who killed herself when her parents refused to let her transition, 22-year-old activist Stephen Ira spoke up. The son of Annette Bening and Warren Beatty emphasized the need for parents to support their children at all ages.
“One of the last things leelah alcorn did in her life was tell another trans girl on tumblr that she was beautiful,” tweeted Ira following the news of Leelah’s death.
