Bobby Flay Divorce: Stephanie March Denies She Leaked Cheating Rumor As Split Turns Ugly
The divorce between Bobby Flay and Stephanie March is turning contentious, with March lashing out against allegations that she’s leaking reports about Flay’s infidelity in an attempt to gain the upper hand in proceedings.
The celebrity chef filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years earlier this month, and the split quickly turned ugly. There have been rumors circulating that Bobby Flay was cheating on Stephanie March long before they broke up, though Flay denied the reports.
But in refuting the reports, Flay also appeared to insinuate that March was the one pushing the rumors along.
“We will continue to refrain from responding to the continued efforts by certain parties to spread rumors and innuendo,” Flay said in a statement, not elaborating on just who the “certain parties” were.
But it became more clear as the statement went on that he was referring to March. Flay’s statement claimed the cheating rumor was “leaked specifically to try to insert this story into the press, and that’s unfortunate.” He then claimed that the leak was designed to create leverage in re-negotiating the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
“Even more unfortunate is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a prenuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage,” the statement continued.
But the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress is lashing out against the accusation. In a statement through her attorney Deborah Lans, March refuted reports that she’s trying to smear Flay.
“Stephanie has worked through all of this to maintain her privacy and her dignity,” Lans noted.
“Stephanie is terribly upset by what she has been reading in the paper,” the attorney added. “I would say that what Bobby’s lawyer and his friends are saying is a combination of speculation and projection on their part.”
Lans added that there are “profound issues” with the prenuptial agreement, but said “we will deal with those in the court.”
“I’m confident a court will consider the agreement to be unconscionable… Stephanie hopes people will respect her privacy and be sophisticated enough to read through what’s coming from the other side,” Lans said.
The prenuptial agreement calls for Bobby Flay to pay Stephanie March roughly $5,000 per month. The celebrity chef reportedly has a net worth of close to $20 million.
