Ariana Grande and Big Sean have split up. And it had nothing to do with Justin Bieber, as if that really needed saying.
Apparently it did.
After US Weekly rolled out news of the former couple’s breakup on Monday, gossip sites looking for clicks claimed Justin Bieber was the reason for Big Sean and Ariana’s parting of the ways.
Why? Cast your mind back, if you will, to that Justin’s guest appearance with Ariana at her April 8 show in Los Angeles. At one point, the heartthrob embraced the petite songstress onstage in a faux-flirtation. After which, a fake tweet purportedly posted by a “furious” Big Sean did the rounds online.
As it turns out, it was all nonsense, Big Sean later denied posting the tweet. Despite this, Celeb Dirty Laundry is claiming the “IDFWU” MC was left so enraged by the performance that he ended his romance with Ariana.
An invented source confided to the website: “This is a love triangle gone bad if you ask us. It sounds like the Biebs played a crucial part in ending this relationship… as we predicted at the start of the month.”
However, Gossip Cop shut down that claim. The watchdog website contacted an insider who blasted CDL’s story as “laughable,” then added that Bieber, Sean, and Grande “are all still good friends.”
The ex-lovebirds revealed their split on Monday via reps to Us Weekly. “They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends,” the joint statement read. “We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time.”
The magazine added that insiders revealed the two “very quietly and amicably ended their relationship a few weeks ago.”
A source explained, “They made the decision to part ways because their conflicting touring schedules would keep them apart over the next year.”
While some Grande and Big Sean fans (the latter are generally thought to be older), may continue to blame Justin Bieber for a split that doesn’t have anything to do with him, this truism may help the confused.
If a couple who dated for nearly nine months could be split up by Bieber hugging Grande at one concert, then Big Sean and Ariana’s relationship wasn’t built to last.
Later on Monday, Ariana updated her millions of fans about her well-being from the New Orleans set of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series, Scream Queens , which also stars former Glee star Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Roberts.
“Fun 1st day on set! thank u queens for making me feel so welcome. y’all are everything @RobertsEmma @msleamichele @billielourd @yoabbaabba,” Grande tweeted .
She continued, (then deleted), “I love u babes so much. you’re a bunch of angels honestly. your love / care is appreciated so much. i’m good i promise .”
