Kim Richards Speaks Out About Arrest With Dr. Phil: ‘The Whole Night Was My Fault’
Kim Richards is breaking her silence about her arrest earlier this month and ongoing struggles with alcoholism. In her first public appearance since her arrest for public intoxication last week, the reality TV star sits down to tell all in an interview on the Dr. Phil show.
According to the New York Daily News, the daytime TV show announced Monday night it snagged the exclusive interview with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star.
PEOPLE reports an early transcript of the interview reveals Kim is taking responsibility for her arrest for public intoxication that occurred late last week.
“I was angry and frightened and I was scared. I knew what I had done. The whole night is my fault. None of this would have happened if I didn’t drink.”
Kim will also open up about her longtime struggle with alcoholism with the TV psychologist, according to US Weekly.
Kim Richards was arrested in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 16 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, as the Inquisitr previously reported. When Richards, 50, refused to leave the hotel after multiple requests, staff called local police. Officers maintain the reality TV star was acting belligerently, slurring her speech and reeked of alcohol. After being taken into custody, she allegedly kicked a police officer. She was booked at the Beverly Hills Police Station and was released later the same day. Richards was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, trespassing and battery on a police officer.
The reality TV star’s shocking arrest came just two days after the airing of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ reunion. During the reunion, as well as throughout the show’s entire fifth season, Kim Richards repeatedly denied that she had suffered a relapse after being questioned about her sobriety by RHOBH newcomers Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson.
Her arrest coming on the heels of the airing of the reunion show led sources close to the star to speculate that binge watching the three-part reunion show is what sent Kim Richards into a downward spiral and caused her to relapse, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.
“Kim went to Brooke’s house, where they watched the 3-part reunion. Kim had put it off because it was too upsetting, but she had to binge watch in order to fulfill her obligation to blog about the shows. And reliving what went down crushed her.”
Dr. Phil’s interview with Kim Richards will air April 28.
