Nicolas Cage Comedy ‘Army Of One’ To Include Russell Brand And Rainn Wilson
The comedy film Army of One is set to tell the strange tale of Gary Faulkner, the man who attempted to single-handedly take down Osama Bin Laden. With Nicolas Cage playing the lead as Gary Faulkner, now comedian and political activist Russell Brand and Rainn Wilson are set to join the cast.
Already including an all-star cast of Denis O’Hare, Ken Marino, Wendy McLendon-Covey, and Paul Scheer, the comedy film apparently started filming earlier this month and will be released sometime during 2016.

According to Variety, the comedy will be produced by Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler of Conde Nast Entertainment, James D. Stern of Endgame Entertainment and Emile Gladstone. The stranger-than-fiction story is based on a GQ article about Nicolas Cage’s character, Colorado resident Gary Faulkner, and was written by Chris Heath.
It was reportedly back in 2010 that Faulkner made up his mind that he was the one to take down the infamous Osama Bin Laden, armed with a sword he purchased from a home shopping network along with a pair of night-vision goggles.

Faulkner became a minor celebrity in the U.S. for what was ultimately a failed and impossible mission. He believed he was “doing God’s work” when he tried to travel to Pakistan a total of 11 times, but he never quite made it. Faulkner was even interviewed on several late night talk shows after his failed attempts.
Director of the film is Larry Charles, who in 2012 worked on the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy The Dictator. The script is adapted from the GQ article by Rajiv Josep and Scott Rothman.
Contact Music reports that while Nicolas Cage is set to play the lead, it is so far unknown which role Russell Brand will play. His last big screen role was in the film Paradise back in 2013, where he played opposite Julianne Hough. That film attracted negative reviews from movie critics and earned a “massive” 21 percent on the critique website Rotten Tomatoes.
Brand is more commonly involved in political activism these days, including helping displaced residents in the U.K. keep their homes during a corporate takeover of the properties. He also runs a daily news show on YouTube called The Trews, where he breaks down and criticizes the latest news doing the rounds on the MSM.
With the thought of Nicolas Cage playing a man trying to run around with a home shopping network sword to wipe out one of the most infamous terrorists of our time, there could certainly be a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor involved.
In other related news about Nicolas Cage, the Inquisitr recently reported that Nicolas Cage and Timothy Olyphant have been added to the cast of Oliver Stone’s upcoming film Snowden.
